Adding new layers - dealing with viewports

I sometimes insert a block from a dwg file that has some layers not in the drawing I am editing, and some that are. Those layers come in thawed on my existing viewports. I would prefer for them to default to being off if they are being created in the new drawing.Currently, I must manually identify the new layers, and manually freeze them in the existing viewports. With my growing VBA skills, I may eventually decide to program a solution. But, does anyone else here have a different approach?Joe Dunfee

  • I use a particular set of layers/layer names and freeze and thaw groups of them using scripts, called from additional lines in the main menu with meaningful names. I recently made a few new scripts to work within paperspace vports. I plan layer names to be friendly to *'s for economy. I use a lot of "primitive" lisps I wrote, but for this I find scripts to be good. Hope that helps.
