Entity snaps

Where are the icons for the "Entity snap" floating menu ? I get question marks instead of an icon. The same with "Ref Edit".

  • You must have updated to 8.0.22(current).They changed the esnaps icon names in the menu, but not the icon names in the button resource file. You can either wait for them to fix it, or just go into toolbar "customize" and reassign the icons to their old osnap names. Esnap . . Osnap . . its an easy mistake to make.

  • This change was actually made in 8.0.21. Both 8.0.21 and 8.0.22 should install the correct default.cui (with the new icon names, i.e. starting with osnap) in the program folder (where bricscad.exe is installed), subfolder UserDataCache/Support/en_US. Normally it should have been copied to your local files folder (under Documents and Settings/username) when starting up the first time a version 8.0.21 or 22. If you had made changes to your local copy of default.cui, the User File Manager should have asked you if it was OK to overwrite it. Maybe you answered no, or something went wrong and it didn't copy at all. To fix this you can manually copy it, or open the customize dialog and click the button in the lower left corner "Revert to defaults". If you don't want to have your default.cui overwritten, then you can reassign the icon names, as suggested above.

  • Thank's. It works. Now, what about the case with a floating menu, that does not fit on the toolbar. Rather then docking it on a new line, it hides the part that does not fit ?

  • I'm not sure I understand. I confirm that when you dock a floating toolbar, it will not jump to the next line if it doesn't fit completely. (the rightmost part will be invisible, out of the screen.) Only toolbars that would entirely fall off the screen, jump to the next line.

  • You got it right. It means that you have force the toolbar to open a new line.

  • I rather prefer the V8 behavior (where the overrun portions of toolbars are allowed to fall off the edge of the screen) because it gives me more control of what to put where. For example, if I rarely use the last three buttons on the Inquiry toolbar, I can dock the toolbar where it fills some otherwise unused space and let the buttons dangle. It would be better/smarter of me to edit the toolbar, of course, but sometimes expediency wins.
