Zooming in v8

I have noticed real time zooming, and zoom extents, in large drawings at large magnifications is quite slow, maybe slower than in v7.Ctrl/shft/left mouse button is a little faster than wheel zoom but each virtually unusable for large areas.Zoom Dynamic is still there and might find new popularity, though strangely not mentioned in the help file.Does anyone know of hardware or software tricks which might help speed up zooming? None of the suggestions I have seen, such as Viewres, seem to help at all.

  • Dynamic zooming: see Viewing your drawing > Zooming > Real time zooming in the Bricscad Help.

  • Zoom performance mainly depends on the pure redraw performance. We currently are putting a lot of effort in improvements in this area:the goal is to make redraw operations at least 3 times faster than currently (on average, because this depends on the drawing content type). These improvements are scheduled to become available soon, in the coming months.Kind regards.

  • Thanks for replies, something to look forward to.I still can't find Z Dynamic in the help - it's OK for me I am familiar with the feature, but a new user might never know it is there.

  • Hi Hans,Work with Brics have been too hard because of the slow zooming. Our draw has many blocks and already noticed that this makes the zoom very slow. We are excited by the changes. It will very important for us.Thanks

  • A glimpse of the future in v9 shows a marked improvement in zoom speed.
