Error Question

I have a VERY large base plan (17.4 mb) that I just received from an engineer today. Aside from being a little slow (understandable), the drawing seems fine. However, when I use the model tab to enter model space, I get the following in the command line: "An error occurred while rendering entity E767: Object erased". The drawing hangs a little then then model space opens. What exactly is this? and is it detrimental? Thanks in advance.

  • This error message warns the user that (probably due to some form of corruption) the entity with handle E767 could not be displayed (rendered). When Bricscad encounters such entity, possible options are: 1. abort loading the drawing, but probably one will prefer to at least see the entities that could be read OK.2. continue loading and displaying the drawing, and ignore entities that could not be read3. continue loading and silently try to repair entities that cannot be read/displayed4. continue loading and inform the user about entities that could not be displayed.Bricscad V8 applies approach 4: leave it up to the user to decide whether it is OK to try and recover the drawing. (Bricscad V7 applied approach 3).Recover may be capable of repairing the entity (often by replacing some offending value by a default one).If you want us to investigate the drawing and provide more detailed information about the problem at hand, please file a support request and attach the drawing.Kind regards

  • Thank you Hans.So far the drawing seems to be behaving. I have run the audit command and it did fix some errors. I'll keep my eye on it, and let you know if we have any problems.

  • I am getting some odd behavior with this file now. I did a purge of un-used layers, fonts and blocks. The base by it self seems fine. We then inserted it into a blank drawing and drew our masterplan on the new file. Working with the file seems fine, but printing is turning into a nightmare. When I print it (either to paper or a file), it will spool, then an error pops up saying "invalid input". When I click OK, the drawing will print, but only the xref-ed base. Nothing in the primary drawing will print. If I unload the xref, they the primary drawing will print fine.I did try making a copy and binding the xref, it does the same thing!Any help would be appreciated.

  • Without investigating the drawing it is hard to make comments...

  • Is it possible to send it?

  • Yes you can send us your drawing as an attachment of a support request. If you don't know how to file a support request, watch the SUPPORT movie on the Bricsys website. To start the movie: choose BRICSCAD on the home page, then click MOVIES. Scroll down untile you see the SUPPORT movie, click the image to start the movie.

  • I have a similar problem with one file, my only solution is to print it in v7 or any other acad/icad program and then it prints properly. The problem could not be reproduced when I sent it to Support. Some layouts print properly for me, some not. Some zooms in Mspace print properly, some don't.Random lines or even parts of lines disappear in the plot, occurrences of certain blocks, but there is no xref in this file. "Invalid Input" appears just before a flawed ppview and that leaves the file with one error which Audit will find and fix until the next incomplete print. The behaviour and print results are consistent from session to session.

  • John, we will reinvestigate the drawing you sent and try more ways to reproduce the 'Invalid Input' issue. Sorry for this nuisance.
