BRX - MFC classes - wxWidgets
Daniel Marcotte had 3 interesting questions about support of MFC classes in BRX.1. Q.: In choosing not to use MFC classes in Bricscad, does this mean that BRX will not be supporting the MFC AcUI/AdUi classes? 2. Q: Does Bricsys recommend that 3d party developers use wxWidgets in their DRX/BRX applications instead of MFC? 3. Q: If 2 is yes, would it be possible for Bricsys to give an example of how to use wxWidgets in a DRX application? A: In general if your application is targeting the Windows market you don't have to change anything. The MFC classes ( e.g. MFC AcUI/AdUi) needed for supporting ARX based applications will stay in Bricscad, but only those indeed. Only if you want to port an application to native "Bricscad for LINUX" you will have to replace those MFC classes by wxWidgets. We'll see if there is some interest from the application developers to join us on LINUX. My best guess is that the LINUX market - once tapped by a professional DWG CAD software such as Bricscad Vx - will ask for professional CAD engineering applications. For the app. developer It will require some minor efforts; Bricsys is ready to help and support those application developers that want to migrate and have their apps on two Operating systems. Of course we will offer all our experience in that field.erik
