Post button and closing browser

 I have a quesiton about posting to this forum.  When you press the "Post" button, it changes to say "Send". But, it can sometimes take several minutes for it to get to the confirmation screen.  

Is it OK to close the browser before the confirmation screen comes up?  I suppose even if the message is already sent, not waiting for the confirmation screen is a bit risky, in case there is a problem that causes it to later fail.

And I will mention one other thing.  That "post" button has always been a bit of a challenge.  It seems that only a portion of the button is an active area where you can touch it successfully.  It would be better if the entire button were functional.
