Does anyone know where I can predawn 3d gears that suitable for 3d printing.

  • There are many sites with 3D content, try https://thingiverse.com/search/page:1?sort=newest&q=gears&type=things&dwh=65928ff82ce8fa
Or even a dedicated 3D model search engine yeggi.com/q/gears/

  • Take a look at woodgears.ca/gear/index.html. It's quite inexpensive and can export the gear profile as a DXF. Here is an example of one printed in ABS that has been adrift on the workbench:

  • One of the best sources for 3D models I've found (including gears) is the McMaster Carr online catalog: https://mcmaster.com/# and there is no need for registering.

As for 3D printing however you'll want to check for clearances for proper meshing of the gears if you are printing a gear set on rotating shafts.

  • In general, you should keep in mind that 3d printers have coarser output than the injection molded finish of the off the shelf gears. One solution, if you want functional printed ones, is to get a model of the gear perhaps .75 of the size you want, and then scale it up .

I agree with PHughes. McMaster is one of my go to places for most 3D models, including gears.

< qtcgears.com > has a nice range of 2D/3D spur & helical gears for low~medium torque needs. Smooth STEP downloads. - Bill
