Is there a way to prioritise auto snap items ?

Seeing awinzler's question about apparent intersection snap, got me to thinking.

Is there a way to prioritise autosnap items, eg endsnap beats perpendicularsnap?

I have had problems when I try to click an end, but perp gets in the way etc.

I know I can force snaps using shift-rightmouse. But this is more of a curiosity item for me.

  • Hmmh,
for me it is more that I don't always get my perpendicular snap.

Normally I would move the cursor a bit to switch between indicated
snap options, the one that is nearer to cursor wins.
Not sure if that is applicable to Bricscad.

Honestly, I would rarely need the perpendicular option at all if I had
propper axis or SHIFT locks, as I just want to draw perpendicular to
XYZ, not 90° to an object at a special angle.
So an absolute ORTHO mode that doesn't get confused by a near
vertex point or better a strict SHIFT lock that I can start after my
cursor defined the nearest of XYZ axis and it will not stop locking
    direction until I release SHIFT.

In that case I would also support vertex priority.

  • Giving 'End' snap a higher priority than 'Per' snap would effectively disable the latter. I don't see how this can be useful.

Hasn't this been discussed before? I seem to remember advising you to look at point filters.

If multiple entity snaps apply with respect to the current position of the cursor hit the TAB key to cycle all possible entity snaps, then click when the snap marker of the desired entity snap displays. Do not move the cursor while hitting the TAB key.

    Yes you did.
I just find it a bit tedious so still vote for a "hard" SHIFT option.

    • Cursor indicates nearest axis
    • holding SHIFT locks
no matter where I snap in space, it will only walk along that axis.

So that it also Works in ORTHO mode like it works in POLAR.
To add the ability that ORTHO does not switch Axes when I need
to snap in a greater distance to another axis.

  • Do not move the cursor while hitting the TAB key.

My biggest problem (Pen or even Mouse)

There are a few (almost automatic) ways to quickly get your to-do list prioritized without much effort. In fact, you can apply one of these methods within 5 minutes and know exactly what to do next First Bankcard.
