Is there a guide on materials and lighting?

Hello!!
I'm having problems creating a simple wedge and assigning "rosewod" from the library. Then, I opened the document manager, copied Chrome, renamed it, and increased the reflectivity of the new document.

Wondering if this tool is very dependent on lighting. Is there a guide on materials and lighting? Thank you

  • A whole nother world! A guide at basic CAD-add-on level, well written to educate in the basic principles, cd be a great intro to the arcane world of 'proper' renders.

  • Unfortunately there isn't much info on Rendering in Bricscad available
    and so far the implementation did not get much love.
    Although the RedSDK used seems to offer all Features for the future.
    I think it doesn't have the highest priority.

    • There seem to come some options for external Rendering in v19.

    Rendering is a wide field and does require a bit of basic background
    knowledge physical reality, different Software workflows and even
    Hardware's needs.
    Otherwise you easily stay in the dark or at exponential render times.

    So basically it works mostly similar in any Software, just an individual way
    to use and so any Rendering Tutorials for any Software are useful.
    I would recommend to search for "physical based Rendering", because
    once it is understood it makes setting of lights and materials more
    predictable and it will work for any scene.
    Beside there should be basic Tutorials about light and materials that will
    explain all terms and what they mean.

    The problem with Reflections is always that there has to be a suitable
    (interesting) environment to reflect, other wise you won't see them.

    Also, currently Bricscad's Material Settings provided are very basic
    and do not cover all the settings used in the Red Materials.
    (Like no Blurriness option in Reflection)
    I think these advanced features will be lost when you duplicate and
    convert to standard Materials, to be able to edit these.
