Section Export Architecture

Good Evening

I got a 3D architecture model with sectionplanes to export, they quite work, but i don't understand some Details:

  • Is there a way to link the Hatch angle to the Entity-Direction?
  • Compositions of only one Material produce no intersection boundry (only the one used Material gets a Line. Why - how to change?)
  • all Compositions do not produce background-Lines (only their Materials do)
  • Can I specify a certain distance until where the Background Lines are drawn? (a.E: 3m - until the next floor and no further?)

Thanks for any input & kind regards
Christof

    1.
    (?) Interested too

    2.
In the worst case you could create a material duplicate
to force a line between (?)

    3.
    (?)

    4.
Sectings can have different Setups, like "Volume".
Which means it shows only elements included in the Volume
    and hiding things that exceed.
This way your Plan Sections could end at a lower Plane set
to about the Floor Slab. That would hide extending Walls or
    Balconies at the Story below.
(If that is what you asked for)
Same for vertical Sections or Elevations.

    1. No
    2. One of the BIM properties listed on the Properties Tab of the Physical Materials dialog is 'Union Section': it controls whether solids made from that physical material will appear unioned or not when sectioned.
    3. Do you mean you would like to see only the outline of the composition instead of the individual material plies?
    4. See Michael's reply: use the Volume state of a section (instead of the default Plane state) to control the section volume

Huh, already forgot that again ...

But if that union is not wanted anywhere but for special connections only,
creating a second new material with same properties for a few compositions
maybe should allow to force those separating lines in some special situations.
(Maybe easier to draw over in Annotations though)

    1. Urgent for Patch 19.02.08 ; )
Architects want parallel lines in a 90° angle to the reference surface - thats basic!

    2. I'd like to produce a Planview without showing the composition elements. If i turn off the Layer "BIM_KONS_MAT_Beton" i cannot see pure concrete walls at all. Duplication of same Material is somehow angainst BIM.

    3. Backgroundlines: here i don't need to see the composition of a construction (will always be covered), therefore the composition itself as a container-outline would do the job. In my export, there are no such simple lines shown (only the lines of every used materials)

    4. Thanks thats great!

Looking forward to a better control on export-result.
Thank you @Hans De Backer and @Michael Mayer !

Yes, would be useful and very nice.
But with Hans clear No, I would assume it is not that easy.

    2.
Still not 100% sure what you actually want to display.

For the OpenGL Window you can toggle between showing
Plies or simple Solids per Object in Property Palette.
I am not 100% sure but I think you can control similar for
generated plans by editing your Section Styles (?)

    3.
Not sure what didn't work for you. Maybe just a Layer Visibility
problem, like overall Solid not on a separate Layer vs "Ply-Layers"
Or Walls in a top Plan View always appear same as in Sections
and require a physical Covering Element like Sheet Metal on Top ?

    Maybe not what you want,
the other option would be to show Ply-based but separately,
like seeing Structural Plies but no Finishing Plies.
That should work by "Material-Layers" Visibilities.

I also would like a kind of global way to toggle between simple
and detailed object appearance in Sections. Or maybe by Section
Styles that can be switched quickly.
Like a simple Cut Face Color instead of complicated Hatches.
Or showing simple Solids in Scales 1:100+.

One thing I'm worried about is how such simplified appearance will
look like, when complicated butted Connections by Plies have been
added manually or by propagate and already physically tessellated
    your Solids ?
