STEP import/export
I need STEP import/export but not other format, STEP is very common for exchange to different platform, why not included in BricsCAD at standard?
Now I use Rhino3D for convert DWG <> STEP, although it works but a bit inconvenient in the workflow. I bought Rhino from an authorized reseller with discount, only cost $750. I understood for those who use Creo, NX, CATIA, $715 just nothing, but for STEP conversion is just overpriced.
Any hints to add STEP format in BricsCAD package?

Yes I know there is a Communicator add-on, it is just too expensive for what I need -> STEP format. Almost all CAD packages even cheaper one has STEP, IGES support, why BricsCAD required an add-on?

I think you could argue whether STEP support should be available in 'standard' editions (probably 'standard' would mean platinum), but it should definitely be included in the mechanical one.
Offering MCAD without support for STEP is just like offering a general CAD package without support for dxf. Given the recent price increases, this decision looks ever more unsustainable.
Bricsys might be in an uncomfortable position here, since including STEP would mean even less communicator licenses sold, and one can only speculate what kind of agreement they have with Dassault...0 -
Most format converter for other more expensive 3D packages usually not cheap like this one:

I think Bricsys can charge $1000 for CATIA, Creo, NX, PARASOLID, etc,. But I don't need those format, my supplier only need STEP.

Part of Bricsys stategy i suppose. Open Standards doesn't mean Free functionality
For comparison, Normal AutoCAD can export step but can't import. You need AutoCAD Mechanical for that.
Which is sold as 'one' solution but is more expensive neitherless0
