Extrusion problem - limit option

I'm trying to extrude this "bar" into the inside surface of this vessel head but the limit option seems to get
messed up like it can't decide what to merge to. I can get it done by extruding it all the way thru the head
and then use boolean operations subtract/separate but that's cumbersome. Is my ucs not set right for the
operation or what else am I missing? Attached is a pic and the dwg file if you want to try it out.

  • Is this what You are after?

  • You have to select the body (Ctrl+click) instead of a single face.

Exactly, how did you do it?

    Thanks Roy that did it.

  • Forgot to ask this but noticed after the extrusion is complete the new object
defaults to layer "0" when the current layer is something else. Thought that as
you go thru the process hitting ctrl for "create" mode it takes on current layer?

  • I find it very irritating in Bricscad.

There are several commands that keep object's original Layer
while others change the object to current active Layer,
    although no new Geometry created.
(Like when you convert a Face to a Region and such)

I prefer a clear order where you never change the Layer of
an object when converting or creating from an existing Object.

That is indeed a bug. Seems related to the _Limit option.

Do I need to file a support request on this or is it already done?

  • I have not filed a SR.

  • I went ahead and filed one, thanks.
