Finding Drawing scale in Paperspace

  • To set a specific scale in PaperSpace (like 1:20) for your drawing, follow these steps:

    1. Switch to PaperSpace: Go to the layout tab where you want to print your model.
    2. Create a Viewport: Type MV (or click the "Viewport" tool) to create a new viewport on your layout. Adjust its size to fit the area you want to focus on.
    3. Activate the Viewport: Double-click inside the viewport to activate it. This allows you to zoom in on the specific part of the model you want to print.
    4. Set the Scale: With the viewport still active, go to the Properties palette (type PROP or right-click inside the viewport and select "Properties"). In the "Misc" section, you'll see a field called "Standard Scale." Change this to your desired scale (e.g., 1:20). If "Standard Scale" doesn’t show the exact scale you need, you can manually adjust the viewport's zoom level, but 1:20 should be available in the dropdown.
    5. Check the Scale: To double-check, type DIST (Distance command) and measure a known distance on your model (for example, 20 mm on the model). If 1 mm on the paper equals 20 mm on the model, you're good to go!
    6. Print/Plot Settings: When you're ready to print, make sure to select the correct printer and check that the scale is set correctly in the print dialogue (it should default to the scale you've set in PaperSpace).

By following these steps, you'll be able to ensure that your drawing is printed at the exact scale you need for easy measurement and future scaling.

  • Why woul my paperspace scaling of changed from metric to imperial?

Before we went off for christmas everything was fine, today when I have to make a few pdfs, when I go to change the scale of my drawing its coming up as imperial scaling eg 1/128" = 1' 0" etc instead of 1:10 etc..

How can I change it back to metric?

  • Found the solution.

For anyone else with the same problem

Select 'Annotate' along the top of the screen, then under 'Table' and 'Add/Delete Scales' select 'MARK UP' in the drop down panel select 'Edit Scale List' and the green refrest symbol will rectify it

  • Solution to original issue.

In paperspace, right click on paperspace tab and select 'Page setup…'

Then at the bottom left in the 'Plot scale' section, make sure your scaling is 'Custom' and set it to 1 Printed mm = 0.001 Drawing Units.

Hit ok and everything should scale normally then.

Another for metric as its meters or mm. You can do a direct enter of the scale. In Acad their is a toolbar Viewports and it has a display of current scale you can put a number in there and that sets the scale. Anyway back to Bricscad, toolbar is not there. for us desired scale number is 1000 / scale so 1:20 1000/20 =50. If you zoom to about how you want the screen to look for a scale, two answers properties has custom scale can type number in there. Or use Zoom 50XP will do the same.
