  • What kind of problems are you facing regarding entity snaps. It works fine on my machine.

  • What kind of problems are you facing regarding entity snaps. It works fine on my machine.

  • 1) THE BUTTONS DON'T STAY DEPRESSED WHEN CLICKED ON THE TOOLBAR#2) WHILE IN A COMMAND I CAN'T GET A SNAP TO TEMPORARILY OVERIDE A STANDING ESNAP.#3)INTERSECTION DOESN'T SEEM TO WORK

  • Concure that "ON OCCASIONS" some of my machines have problems w/ reading entity snaps. I have ICAD on an NT station, and other two are on 2000.At times, our problems have been on the 2000workstations, the "point" entity snap will notenvoke. Yet they are valid points I am ableto snap to on my NT station. Others ?????Thought I experienced something like this some 12 months ago, and resolved my NTstation, yet do not recall. Use ICAD with another 3rd party software, so it may have been relational, yet this "point" entity snap w/ just ICAD has been our problem in the 2000 environment.Have not experienced any other's though.Just Food for Thought, as they say.

  • Kevin to make the snap stay oncustomice the toolbar and make shure they all look like this'_ENDPOINTI to lost my apostrofes somewhere down the line.

  • To get a 'one shot' esnap override when you are in a command you must press and hold the shift key and click the right mousebutton, then choose a snapmode from the context menu. If you press the shift key when selecting the snapmode, your choice will be added to the active esnaps. If the MBUTTONPAN variable is set to OFF the context menu will also pop up when pressing the middle mouse button. If on, pressing the middle mouse button pans the current view.

  • I'M A GREAT BELIEVER IN FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS. AFTERALL THAT'S THE WAY THINGS GET BUILT IN THE REAL WORLD. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO HOP ON ONE LEG AND RUB MY HEAD TO GET THINGS TO WORK RIGHT IN BRICSNET'S VERSION OF INTELILCAD. THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY "ENABLE A RUNNING ENTITY SNAP THAT REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL YOU TURN IT OFF BY CHOOSING AN ENTITY SNAP WHEN NO OTHER COMMAND IS ACTIVE. OR ENABLE A ONE-TIME ENTITY SNAP FOR A SINGLE SELECTION BY CHOOSING AN ENTITY SNAP WHEN ANOTHER COMMAND IS ACTIVE. YOU CAN ALSO USE A ONE-TIME ENTITY SNAP TO OVERRIDE A RUNNING ENTITY SNAP." WHY CAN'T THIS WORK THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO? ICAD98 DID. I'M STILL USING ICAD98 BECAUSE I CAN AT LEAST FEEL CONFIDENT THAT IT'S GOING TO PERFORM CORRECTLY.I CAN'T AFFORD TO BE BETA TESTING ICAD 2000.

  • Everybody in our office works with two identical looking osnap toolbars, placed one above the other. The top one gives "sticky" osnap settings, the bottom one "one time" osnap settings. This works very comfortably, hence the (internal) succes of this solution. One of these toolbars came with IntelliCad, the other one was "home made". I do not know how it was done exactly, but if someone is interested, I can ask and post the answer.

  • Good idea, just make a copy of the osnap tools andmake one with '_ENDPOINT and the other with _ENDPOINT and Voila.Geoff are your point in a symbol? Then you may need to close your drawing and open it again, sometimes you even have to kill IC to make it work again.

  • Don't forget that you can always do an esnap override at thekeyboard with 'MID', 'END', 'QUA' and so on...for thoseone-time requirements.

  • THAT'S PRECISELY THE POINT. NO YOU CAN'T ALWAYS DO AN ESNAP OVERIDE WHETHER FROM THE TOOLBAR OR TYPED IN. THE CHOSEN ESNAP IS JUST ADDED TO THE LIST OF ESNAPS PREVIOUSLY CHOSEN AND IT'S A HIT AND MISS PROPOSITION. THAT CHOSEN ESNAP MAY BE ONE OF THE CHOICES OR IT MAY NOT FUNCTION AT ALL THAT TIME, BUT AT NO TIME DOES IT OVERIDE ALL THE OTHERS CHOSEN. THE TOOLBAR BUTTONS DON'T STAY DEPRESSED SO YOU DON'T REALLY KNOW AT ALL TIMES WHAT SNAPS ARE ACTIVE JUST BY LOOKING AT THE TOOLBAR. THE ONLY SUREFIRE WAY THAT I'VE FOUND THAT WORKS IS TO CLEAR THE ESNAPS BEFORE USING IT EACH TIME BECAUSE THE LAST ONE CHOSEN IN THAT INSTANCE IS THE ESNAP THAT'S ACTIVE.

  • Kevin,I dont understand your problem. If you open a clean drawing pick only enpoint snap from the toolbar draw a few lines crossing around the drawing. Chose circle command and type mid or "shift and right mouse and choose midpoint" you now have ONLY midpoint snaps working for one operation( it overrides anything previously picked) next pick your back to endpoint. As far as I see exactly what your asking for.I´m running 0027 just for your info.As for hit and miss have you turned off the flyover?

  • Just to add to the confusion, there is a bug involving esnaps and poly lines. If ANY esnap is on (MID, INT, CEN - doesnt matter) a fly over of a polyline acts as though END is on. This happens for all poly lines that are made of more than 1 segment.Jef

  • PATRIK,WHY IS MY PREDICAMENT SO CONFUSING TO YOU? MY VERSION OF BRICSNET ICAD IS .0027, I OPERATE IN WINDOWS 98 WITH AN AMD ATHELON THUNDERBIRD (1.2GIG), 256 MEG OF RAM WITH A 60 GIG HARD DRIVE. NOW, I MAY BE THE ONLY USER OF ALL THE USERS OF BRISCNET INTELLICAD 2000 THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM WITH ESNAPS BUT I DOUBT IT. IF YOU SAY ESNAPS WORKS FINE ON YOUR SYSTEM I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO BELIEVE YOU. HOWEVER, ESNAPS DOES NOT WORK ON MY SYSTEM ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE USE OF ESNAPS AS PROVIDED BY BRICSNET. IT DOESN'T WORK WITH EITHER FLY OVERS ON OR OFF.

  • Jeff,I was about to agree with you I've had that problem.Only now I can't repeat it. For the moment my (lightweight)polylines work fine withall sorts of snaps.(the others I dont know) Only bug I find is that _PLANVIEWINT only works insidean operation by typing PLA or Shift rightmouse.KevinStrange I run basicly same setup as you.Backtracking a little. #1. The depressed buttons stay depressed if the command line looks like this '_ENDPOINTIf it looks like this they will not stay depressed_ENDPOINTThen they will only work one time but you can add more of them.#2. NO you can no longer override snaps from the toolbar while in a command(forgive me but have you ever? As far as I can remember in IC98 all you could dowas to temporarily add an extra snap)But shift rightmouse overrides any other picked snaps#3. Planviewintersection snaps only work as temporary on my machine. 3D intersections forks fine.Other than that I think you should try installing 2000 on a clean machine without IC98 on it.Maybe this causes your problems. I really think its worth it.I dropped 98 half a year ago whenthe UNDO problem was almost resolved. I wouldn't even think about going back.I only do 2D maybe 3D will cause other problems.

  • PATRIK,I APPRECIATE ALL THE HELP YOU'VE TRIED TO GIVE, THANKS. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS:1) THE BUTTONS DON'T STAY DEPRESSED AT ALL, AND THE COMMAND IS PRECEEDED WITH AN APOSTROPHE ON THE COMMAND LINE.2)PLANVIEW INTERSECTION DOESN'T WORK ON MY SYSTEM AT ALL.3)I INSTALLED BRICSNET ICAD 2000 ALONE ON MY SYSTEM AND HAD ALL THESE PROBLEMS. I INSTALLED ICAD 98 AND THERE WAS NO CHANGE TO ICAD 2000.4) YES, THE TEMPORARY ESNAP OVERRIDE DID AND STILL DOES WORK IN ICAD 98. IT WORKS EXACTLY AS THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY. THE INSTRUCTIONS IN BRICSNET READ EXACTLY AS IN ICAD 98 HOWEVER THE COMMANDS DON'T WORK THAT WAY. PLEASE PULL DOWN THE MANUAL INSTRUCTIONS ON ESNAPS IN HELP AND TELL ME IF ESNAPS WORKS EXACTLY THE WAY THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY THEY SHOULD. I BELIEVE THIS IS A BUG IN THE PROGRAM.5) I'M NOT USING BRICSNET 2000 AT THIS TIME BECAUSE WHEN I INSTALLED IT LAST SUMMER I BEGAN USING IT ON ONE OF MY DRAWINGS AND HAD DONE QUITE A BIT OF WORK IN THE DRAWING WHEN AT ONE POINT I HAD MADE A MINOR ERROR AND HIT THE UNDO COMMAND. LET ME TELL YOU THAT WAS EXCITING. NOT ONLY DID IT UNDO MY ERROR BUT IT UNDID ALL THAT I HAD DONE IN THE DRAWING FOR THAT WORK SESSION, AND I COULDN'T RECOVER THE WORK. WHEN .0027 CAME OUT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO FIX A BUNCH OF STUFF BUT WHEN I SAW THAT THE ESNAPS STILL DIDN'T WORK RIGHT I DECIDED I COULDN'T AFFORD TO TAKE A CHANCE WITH PUTING OUT A BAD DRAWING. IF THAT HAPPENS AND IT'S BECAUSE OF A BUG IN THE PROGRAM I'M TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE AND THE SOFTWARE WRITERS ARE HELD TOTALLY HARMLESS. WELL UNTIL I CAN FEEL TOTALLY CONFIDENT ABOUT THE SOFTWARE I'M NOT GOING TO USE IT AND I'M NOT GOING TO PROMOTE IT TO OTHERS IN MY FIELD.

  • I also have problems with entity snap. Suddenly it stops to work with blocks in the drawing, so I have to close the program and start it again, to have it back! I tryed a lot a different ways to solve this, but the only way it's start it over again.Marcelo

  • I have discovered that snaps work well only with a tablet or through the keyboard

  • Kevin,There are a number of different apostrofes on the keyboard the ony one thatworks for me is the one that sits on the same key as *.' is ok ´ is not.To answers your question #4 no it doesn´t work like in 98I would rather consider it to be a bug in the manual. It should have been updated. BUT I can make it all work to be honest the manualdoesn´t really tell you how to achive the different options. What about shift rightmouse does that work at all for you?You also say that your buttons dont stay depressed but does the snap stay on formore than one operation?Funny thing is that one of the main reasons why I wanted to upgrade was because of flyoversnapping. The 98 way was as far as I see it a real triel and error thing. If youhave more than one snap on you have no clu what it has snapped to until its to late. Now all I want is that the snapped item itself gets highlighted then I would be really happy.I didnt use 2000 myself for almost a year mostly due to the UNDO horror, like you said. Today that is a very rare problem, I also keep an autosaveon 5min. In the beginning it was also fairly unstable today its much better.Only warning I have is to make shure to save before plotpreview. If autosave kicks in when you preview your busted.Marcelo,That one I agree on is a definate bug.

  • The entity snap icons does not work coorectly in Windows NT. But it works OK in Windows 9X.This is a bug I reported LONG TIME AGO version 2.0.x.The fix is edit the icons command.Hey, we are still using ICAD98. I'm planning to switch to 2000. I said that 2 years ago.Wow 200 copies waisted. To ALL is Bricsnet ICAD stable?I only want from Bricsnet is to fix the current bugs, and forget the new enhancements.I buggy product is usesless. No matter whats the cost.Leon

  • NODE SNAP DOESNT SEEM TO WORK EITHER, I HAVE TO USE THE INSERT SNAP WITH EAGLEPOINT CREATED NODES. THIS IS SOMEWHAT ANNOYING BECAUSE THERE ARE TEXT INSERTS AT EACH OF THE NODES.

  • AGREED. SNAPS ARE ONE OF SEVERAL PROBLEMS.TO MINIMISE THE EFFECTS (CRASHES, ILL-FUNCTIONING COMMANDS, ETC) I MAKE EVERY EFFORT, THRU COMMAND ALIASING, TO USE THE KEYBOARD. IT IS THE FASTEST AND MOST ACCURATE INPUT DEVICE. EVER MISS A PICK ON A ICON? USUALLY IT'S BECAUSE YOU WERE ON IT WHEN YOU PRESSED THE MOUSE BUTTON BUT MOVED OFF BEFORE LIFTING THE BUTTON COMPLETING THE PICK. ONLY HAPPENS WHEN YOU ARE IN A REAL HURRY. IF YOU HAVE ALIASED 9 OUT OF 10 OF THE MOST USED COMMANDS TO A SINGLE KEY THAT'S GOOD. 99 OUT OF 100? CONSIDER DOUBLE STRIKES ON THE SAME KEY TO DIFFERENTIATE. DEVOTE SAY THE LEFT HAND TO THE KEYBOARD AND THE RIGHT TO CRUISING THE MOUSE. KEEP IN MIND THAT ALL THAT STUFF THEY CALL PROGRESS AIN'T NECESSASRILY SO... THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDIN'!THIS WON'T MAKE THE BUGGS DISSAPEAR BUT I FIND THE REMAING PROBLEMS WHILE IRRITATIONG, SURVIVABLE. KIND A LIKE 'RAID'...

  • Whether the buttons on the ENTITY SNAP toolbar stay pressed or not depends on the PRESSED STATE VARIABLE setting for each of the entity snap toolbuttons. To change this setting choose CUSTOMIZE from the TOOLS menu, then select the TOOLBARS tab. Now click the button on the ENTITY SNAP toolbar then click the OPTIONS button on the CUSTOMIZE dialog window. Now look at the PRESSED STATE VARIABLE setting. If this field is empty, the button will not stay pressed. As you can read in the IntelliCAD HELP, these are the values that should follow OSMODE& in the PRESSED STATE VARIABLE field:0 = Clear entity snaps1 = Endpoint snap2 = Midpoint snap4 = Center snap8 = Point snap16 = Quadrant snap32 = Intersection snap64 = Insertion point snap128 = Perpendicular snap256 = Tangent snap512 = Nearest snap1024 = Quick snap4096 = Plan view intersection snapTo activate more than one entity snap at a time, add the bit codes of the entity snaps you want to activate. For example, entering 3 activates both the endpoint snap (bit code 1) and the midpoint snap (bit code 2).

  • A movie about Entity Snaps in IntelliCAD can be viewed on the BricsCad website: http://www.bricscad.com/about/solutions/design/intellicad/demo.jsp?site=1

  • Using version 3.1.0009 I've made the changes to the pressed state variable field as you suggested and their is no change to the toolbar keys. They don't stay depressed as they are supposed to. Also, NODE snap does not work in a one time override with or without the leading apostrophe. It does work if it is initially chosen before a command.

  • OK, my mistake. You have to type in osmde& and the variable in the field. However, NODE still doesn't work.

  • Please read my reply of july 8th about the Pressed State variable.

  • I have read your reply of July 8 and NODE osnap still doesn't work properly. The other osnap buttons will stay depressed and will work in onetime overide option as intended however the NODE osnap button will only stay depressedand with the Flyover working when it is chosen as a running osnap. The button won't stay depressed and the flyover won't show up if NODE is chosen as a onetime override.

  • You are right, one time override does not work for Node if you use the toolbuttons. However, it works when shift+right clicking and choosing pointsnap from the context menu! When I checked the feedback in the command window I saw that the command reads _POI instead of _NODE. I tried it out and changed the command for the Pointsnap toolbutton from _NODE to _POI and it works!

  • When I shift rightclick and choose pointsnap '_NODE appears in my command line window. My version (3.1.0009) doesn't recognize _POI. Is there some other answer; shift rightclick and choose pointsnap is is two steps extra than just picking the toolbar?
