odd flashing box when hovering over gripped line

This only happens when over a gripped line. It does not happen if the line is not gripped.

As I move the cursor, a grey box about 1/2 inch square flickers. Its mostly not there, but shows quickly and disappears.

Its a blank box, no info. I'm trying various things to fix it with no luck....

I'm on win7 64 bit, fast machine, ver 16.2.09 rev 42968

    found it, turn off RolloverTips....

     My rollover tips are displayed as expected, with info about the object, but still annoying. I've turned them off too.

     Please notice that Rollover Tips can be toggled on/off in the Status bar by clicking the RT field. If the field does not display in the Status bar, click the small black down-arrow button at the right hand side of the Status bar and choose Rollover in the list.
