Try to press the Tab key.
Snapping: use F3 to toggle snapping. Press Tab: to select obscured geometry

I think in Bricscad, activating "Entitysnap to negative Z" lock Icon
in Snapping Palette would do the trick.
(I think in general it is quite usefule the default way)EDIT :
I think it was more the OSOPTIONS settings in Bricscad.
But looks like all these Command Line inputs for Snapping
aren't available in Shape.0 -
Awkward - it's all or nothing. If I want to draw a Shape on a Wall (to be Extruded) and use Snaps as well without selecting Objects in the Background, how would that be done? Shouldn't Locking the DUCS restrict Snapping only to those objects found in the current X/Y Plane?

You can exactly control that behavior of ignoring
potential snap points of Objects occluded behind
the DUCS Plane by Bricscad's (only) OSOPTIONS
setting.Generally I think it is quite useful to be able to align
Object Creation to an Element Feature in the Back of
the DUCS.In Vectorworks that is disabled by default,
but you also have the option by pressing the "B" key,
that switches an area around your Cursor into Wireframe Mode
to allow snapping of occluded elements.
(You know, "B" like XRay )Maybe disabling that feature in Shape also by default would
be a good idea - I don't know ....0 -

In Shape you should snap occluded things - when you use a
View Mode Style that has a bit of Transparency in Shading,
but it could avoid occluded snapping when a 100% opak
View Mode is selected (?)Makes a lot of sense to me ....

With F3 you can switch snapping ON and OFF. With snapping ON, you can move to the geometries behind the one you point the courser at. It will then snap to the snapping points of that geometry. See screenshots.

I'm really wanted to avoid Snapping to objects in the background, but still use Snapping for what I'm currently drawing. Would adding a "On Face" Snapping Option work?

"switches an area around your Cursor into Wireframe Mode to allow snapping of occluded elements"
"snap occluded things - when you use a View Mode Style that has a bit of Transparency in Shading, but it could avoid occluded snapping when a 100% opak View Mode is selected"Two brilliant ideas
