Drawing Units from BricsCad to Autocad

I issued a CAD drawing to a client in meters. They proceeded to open same in Autocad Lite and informed me that drawing units of the drawing was is mm and for me to adjust same back to meters.

I had another look at my drawing and drawing units are set to meters. So I couldn't understand why when they opened in Autocad Lite that the drawing had changed to mm.

I had never seen this before but maybe it can happen. Is there a way to stop this from happening? Thanks.

  • If your INSUNITS (insertion units) are set to Meters,
you have done everything right and I have no idea what to do.

If your INSUNITS are mm and only Length-, Area-, … Units are set to Meter
to format DYNDIMS and such to work with Meter inputs,
I think you would need to change your INSUNITS and scale you whole
    drawing afterwards.
(I had a discussion with support and there should be a way to change
INSUNITS without scaling needed a tried a few times and was not able to
    do so without scaling)

For the automatic calculation of scale factors when inserting blocks and, exclusively with BricsCAD, when pasting blocks (ctrl-shift-v) or objects (ctrl-v), the following rules are used:

    • Only if the value for INSBASE of a block to be inserted is 0, then the value of INSUNITSDEFSOURCE is used.
    • Only if the value for INSBASE of the current drawing is 0, then the value of INSUNITSDEFTARGET is used.

  • Like the others sound like they inserted the dwg into another dwg. I have had dwg scale like 1 / 0.3048 which is a feet to metres scaling and yes like above both dwg have to be set the same. At first glance they look alike as lengths are in decimals.
