It is ridicules, not a good software .

  • Do you have some specific problems with it, and whether they were reported to developers?

  • @AvinashPatil

You must be a Michael Jackson fan. Thanks for the compliment.

BTW, its spelled "ridiculous", which is going to far, its not that incredible. Well, maybe.

    @Lyubov Osina

the OP flew a little too far,

    but:

bricscad broke the "If it isn't broke - don't fix it" rule since the end of V24.

there a lot of problems with the GUI - see here in the forum.

the new ribbon is bad and the classic ribbon no longer availble.

    the same for layers panel.

in V25.2 bricscad also damaged the status bar,

    and there are probebly more.

other behavioral changes gone bad like publish, trim command, insert and more.

again - go through the forum in just the last few days and there are probebly more.

see SR194461 - a change to the way parametric blocks respond to parameter change was made in V23.2.

(for some issue with attsync and visability state or whatever…. )
when changing the parameter of one block(!!) Via lisp,

what use to take a second or less up until V25.1 now takes 2 minutes or more (for one block) in V25.2 , depends on how many parametric blocks there are in the drawing because the software updates all blocks regardless of whether they have been edited or not.

so if there is one parametric block in a drawing it is fast.

if there are a lot of parametric blocks in the drawing run the lisp, apply the change to the one(!!) block,

take your time, make yourself a cup of coffee, light a cig, sit back, and relax…

it looks like bricscad in many ways makes the software worse as if intentionally or consciously.

    Thanks,

    aridzv.

  • How do I turn off the auto TRIM liked the old way, pick cutting edges, pick objects to cut. V25 click object and its trimmed maybe not what I want.

    @ALANH

set TRIMEXTENDMODE system variable to 0.

  • Hi @aridzv , this sounds rather annoying indeed, I'm sorry to hear that.

  • yes…

the real annoyingness was downgrading to V25.1.07.

complete uninstall V25.2.03 and clean re-instal 25.1.07 with reload all my settings, cui files and more.

V25.1.07 will be my last Bricscad version unless a very significant change occurs in future versions.

  • Hi!

There is many problem in this CAD software.

    Not Easily filter object

so much headache to use Quick select object

there is no quick properties window, We have to always go to properties

Autolisp problem some times it may run some time not with the same lisp program

Object snapping is not working properly

We can not add working for into the open dialog box

I think some one who worked in AutoDesk and get the code from it and develop some functions as sell as the name of BricsCAD.

We are full time worker who spend at least 8-10 hours in preparing drawing. I can see the difference of AutoCAD and BricsCAD

  • I used Autocad for 15 years before I discovered Bricscad, and I like Bricscad much better. In fact, the only faults I find in Bricscad are features that were designed to be identical to Autocad. I understand that they have to do that, because of people like the OP, who complain about anything that's even slightly different. Without that limitation, I'm sure they would be able to develop a truly excellent CAD program. I wish they would launch an alternative CAD program that's purged of the many shortcomings of Autocad. Until then, I depend on Bricscad's superior Lisp programming tools to create my own not-fully-Autocad-compatible version of Bricscad.

  • I thoroughly agree!

At the very least, copying interface regressions from AutoCAD should have restrictions, as should conforming to internationally standardised keyboard combinations.

The fact that you can downgrade within the licence space is a very nice option for when you run into problems with a new version.

I see that OP has regularly asked questions and received answers from highly skilled and concerned people. OP can therefore be supposed to understand that his post is perceived to be rude and inappropriate - even if it was written at a time of frustration.

That things don't always work or work differently is a given fact but it is also a fact that there is a highly valued and knowledgeable team behind BricsCAD who are always willing to answer questions and fix bugs. Just go ask Autodesk a question and you'll know what I mean.

Bricsys: happy coding! Users: happy drafting!

    @Wiebe van der Worp

I can't speek for the OP.

for me this isn't a qiestion of comparing bricscad to any other CAD software.

I'm a bricscad user and I'm talking about bricscad functionality.

there is a regretion in bricscad functionality since the end of V23 up to the last release of V25.2.03 with very specific problems that users have noted and pointed out.

it is one thing to bring new features and develop them and refine them over time,

and another to regress working features and make them worse.

  • @aridzv Let's hope then that it keeps BricsCAD's focus - and prioritisation - sharp.

You might also consider participating in betha testing programmes, which is obviously one of the best ways to avoid such regressions.

I am confident that things will work out. Despite the negative start, the value of this thread is that bugs will come to the extra attention of Bricsys.
