Copy with DUCS
I've searched to see if this is possible and I haven't found any clues.
I an trying to copy a bolt from one face to another using the dynamic ucs.
UCSDETECT is set to 1, SELECTIONMODES is set to 2 however the cursor doesn't highlight the faces and rotate accordingly.
Can this be done? (mp4 attached)

thanks David
I tried that lisp routine, however it rotates the bolt so the bolt centre line is at right angles to the z axis of the ducs when the new face is hilighted.

It worked for me.
I think I can see what is happening, I think it is trying to snap to the internal edges of the hole, therefore altering the rotation.
If you hover over the surface of the material that you want it lined up with and the bolt in the correct location, then hit SHIFT, it should stay on that plane, and you can snap to the centre of the hole.
Sorry, I don't have time to do a video, but I tried it various times to check I could repeat it.

To emphasise, invaluable once I found out, in general, DUCS>select surface>Shift locks DUCS on that face so it stops flitting around.

Must be one of my settings. I tried a solid on the face and still the same result. (video attached)
DWG also attached.
Yes I've discovered it works if you don't select a point that touches the face of the solid. Unfortunately, I need the hole centre point/bolt insert point which is on the face of the solid.
Perhaps if the face was selected first and locked then the objects selected to be copied?
Edit
Because the bolt is a block that I am copying to another face, I wrote my own routine to achieve a result (attached). It works for me.

@Ian Johnson I haven't tried your lisp, but there is definitely something strange going on.
If you INSERT the same bolt block that is in your drawing, it works as it should during insertion.
If I INSERT the same bolt block and just put it anywhere in the drawing (away from any entities), and then use COPYDUCS or MOVEDUCS to put the bolt in the hole, again, it works as it should.
But this doesn't mean it is the bolt block, as the rectangle you drew also misbehaves.
So sorry, this has gone above my sphere of knowledge.
I would put an SR in to see if they can shed any light on what is happening.
