Command "bimsection" versus "_SECTIONPLANETOBLOCK"

What are the main differences between these commands?

Both need a "sectionobject" and create a 2D-drawing;
"bimsection" does not use a dialogue but "sectionplanetoblock" needs a dialogue.

Are they really the same for 98%??

Thanks for advice!

  • The main difference is that a BimSection creates a block in a drawing which is defined by the Destination File property of the BimSection. In this drawing a paperspace viewport is created and added as a sheetview in a sheet of a sheetSet. All other BimSections in the same model are added to the same sheetset.

  • OK, Louis, thanks.

    So the main steps "from Sectionobject to 2D-drawing" are the same.

    Correct. Another important difference which I forgot to mention is that a link is created between the section entity and the section block.
